Athletics Captain

My name is Joshua. I was really happy when I was told that I’m this year’s Athletics captain. I have enjoyed representing Holywood Primary in North Down Athletics, Cross Country, and football. I love running and doing the long jump. I also enjoy being a part of the school’s rugby team.

Outside school I play for Holywood rugby club. I am also a blue belt at Holywood Tae Kwondo club and I am hoping to get my black belt in a few years. I love sparing and I really enjoyed competing at the Northern Ireland Tae Kwondo Championships last year. I am also really looking forward to playing schools rugby and doing athletics when I move to secondary school next year.

Football Captain

Hi, I’m Tate and I was selected to be the school's football team captain.

Some of the people I’m inspired by are Luke McCullough who plays for Glentoran and Kevin De Bruyne who plays for Manchester City.

I was filled with a mixture of excitement, joy and nervousness as I was really hoping to get picked for football captain.

I play for Crusaders 2013 outside of school and we have recently got through to the final of the Northern Ireland Boys’ Cup.

Some of the recent achievements for the school happened  January when I captained the school to win the Ashfield Cup!

In my future career I hope to pursue football full-time as a job and go overseas to play and enjoy the game I love.

Selena

My name is Selena and I am in P6. When I was told that I was a sports team captain for hockey I felt very pleased, happy and proud.  I enjoy sport especially team games like hockey, football, and netball. I love being able to play with my friends and encouraging them all. We have lots of fun together. I play hockey for North Down Hockey Club and have taken part in the U11 hockey Blitz games this year. It has been a great way to meet new friends and learn new skills. I play a forward and I love to try and score goals and help my team. I would love to keep playing hockey as I get older both in school teams and out of school teams.

Hi, my name is Erin and I am the netball captain.

When I found out that I was the netball captain I was really excited but also shocked. I was a member of the school netball club in P6 and P7and I loved it each time. My favourite positions to play are goal defence and centre.

In September I am going to join Bangor netball club because you have to be in year 8 to become a member. I’m so happy that I am the netball captain.

Rugby Captains

I’m Fraser and I am HPS co-captain of the HPS rugby team .

I was really happy and proud about the news of being chosen as captain of the rugby team. I play rugby for Holywood Rugby Club and want to keep playing in secondary school and hopefully win the School’s Cup or Medallion Shield. My favourite rugby player is Ireland’s centre – Bundee Aki, because centre is the position I want to play when I’m older. I also support the Ulster Rugby team.

Hello, my name is Lachlan.

Whenever I found out I was co-captain of the school rugby squad I was overjoyed as rugby is one of my favourite sports.  I play rugby for Civil Service outside of school and I am a keen supporter of Ulster and Ireland rugby teams.  My favourite players are Stuart Moore and Jamison Gibson-Park. 

One of the leaders I most admire in sports is Jurgen Klopp because he treats everyone equally and he is always himself and isn’t afraid to be himself.

I hope to be a great leader for my team and help lead my team to many wins against other schools.
