School Council visit Stormont

On Friday the School Council had a fantastic trip to the Parliament Buildings at Stormont. The 21 pupils across P4-P7 were given a tour and learnt lots of interesting facts about the history and architecture of the building.

The children were able to visit the Commons Chambers where they sat down where the MLA’s sit to debate issues and laws. We even had our own mock debate in the chamber, on the proposal, “School uniforms should be banned”!  We’re sure you can guess which side won!

The trip finished with a presentation all about the voting system, how laws are passed in government and the similar roles school council representatives should have to MLA’s.

A big thank you to all the parent helpers for their support and time in making this educational visit possible :)!

Check out some of the photos from our trip!
