CONGRATULATIONS to P7 pupil Jamie. Read below about his amazing experience. Jamie had written a poem for a competition that our P6 & P7 pupils have had the opportunity to take part in. Further details can be found here.

Enjoy reading Jamie's account of the day below. He wrote his fantastic poem all by himself!

We are very proud of you Jamie. WELL DONE!

"Hi, I was on on BBC Radio Ulster recently reading out the poem I wrote for the Aware NI Express Yourself poetry competition. I was really excited to get the phone call to say that I would be going live on-air on the Connor Phillips show. The production staff phoned us and told us how it all works and when they would be putting our call through to Connor. We had to turn our radio off so that there was no feedback and to keep the line clear, we couldn't have the phone on loudspeaker. We could hear the radio show live through the phone while we waited for our turn. Then they put me and my Mum through to Connor Phillips. It felt really relaxed like a normal conversation with a friend and he was very funny when he said that all he was interested in at my age were the prizes too! I read my poem out as loudly as I could to possibly more than a thousand listeners and at the end I think they did some audio effect so that I got a big load of applause and whooping! Everyone was really kind and said I'd done brilliantly. All in all, it was an amazing experience."
